Can i get in trouble?

I was driving home and when I turned into town, a cop was sitting at the stop sign. I didn't have a seat belt on, so I think he may have saw this, but I got half way down the road and saw he had his lights on. I went to stop, but he pulled out onto the highway. So I thought he must be going after someone else. Once he was on the highway, I just kept driving and went home. Will I be getting in trouble? I mean after all, he never tried to pull me over..
